About Us

Constantia Kloof Montessori is a small, private school, providing a ‘family-like’ environment with individual attention in which to build a firm educational foundation for students aged 6 to 9 and 9-12 years.

At Constantia Kloof Montessori we believe that every child is an amazing individual. Each student’s needs are respected and embraced while in pursuit of academic, physical and spiritual growth.

Our learning environment nurtures a child’s curiosity about the world around them, and encourages creativity and imagination to shape their future.

By exploring prepared and inviting didactic apparatus and activities, in a friendly and caring atmosphere, each child can realise their full potential and develop a love for learning.

Students progress at their own pace, developing a concrete foundation of skills, concepts and knowledge which are required for further learning.

Progressing through the various grades, the learning environment becomes more formal, as children are guided into more abstract thought and independent work, while continuing to build on basic foundations.

Philosophy

Our philosophy is to develop the self-esteem of each individual student, enabling them to develop self-confidence, recognise their own worth and appreciate their shortcomings.

The student’s intellectual interests are stimulated by developing an understanding of academic subjects in a structured and prepared learning environment.

Students are ‘vertically socialised’, meaning that they have the opportunity to be social with children of various ages in the learning environment (6–9  years).(9-12 years) We strive to assist the child to interact with others with assertiveness, confidence and compassion. Any conflicts are attended to immediately and amicably. The mixed ages encourages good social skills and an interest in learning further in a family-like setting. The younger students aspire to do the work of the older students, while the older students develop a sense of mentorship and responsibility by assisting the younger child.

The environment is structured to satisfy the child’s natural curiosities and thirst for knowledge, while ensuring

that the basic skills of reading, writing and mathematics and life skills are mastered.

The students appreciate the responsibility to be respectful of their environment and the people in it.
